Bertha Morin, Director of Community Engagement & Mobilization Program

Bertha Morin is a community organizer and leader with almost two decades of experience collaborating with nonprofit organizations and Chicago’s most vulnerable communities.

She has her Bachelor degree in Social Work from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Mexico and over the past 19 years, has worked with the Latino community in the areas of leadership development, organizing, education, housing, and health, alongside organizations like West Town Leadership United, Community Organizing and Family Issues, the Healthy Schools Campaign, Erie Family Health Center, and the Mexican Consulate in Chicago.

Currently, Bertha works at Mujeres Latinas en Accion as the Director of the Family Engagement Program and Lead Organizer. In this capacity, she leads mobilization efforts so participants and community members become civically engaged around issues that affect them such as immigration, health, women’s rights, and gender violence. Bertha has coordinated the New Americans Initiative Campaign since last year at Mujeres Latinas en Accion, offering permanent legal residents the needed support in becoming U.S. Citizens. She also manages the Promotoras de Salud program which provides culturally appropriate outreach and serves as patient advocates and educators. The Promotoras focus on education and referrals to screening for breast cancer, addressing access to care and working towards equitable healthcare for all.

Bertha is passionate about helping people learn about their rights and the resources in the community, and she also believe that more can be achieved by joining our voices and working as a team.

In her spare time, Bertha enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is married and has three children and 3 grandchildren.
