Born in Colombia, Rocio migrated to the United States in 2002. Rocio is a Community Health Worker by heart and a Social Worker by profession. Rocio completed her master’s degree in social work from Loyola Chicago University with a concentration in Mental Health and Family Migration. Over the past 10 years, Rocio has worked with individuals impacted by chronic diseases, mental health, and substance use conditions. Her professional life includes working with community-based organizations, hospital systems, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), and human and social support service delivery addressing issues such as homelessness, domestic violence, and sexual violence. Rocio understands the challenges individuals face to access quality mental and health care services and uses her positive attitude to encourage individuals and the people around her to succeed and overcome the barriers encountered to reach a state of well-being. Rocio loves spending time with her son and family.
