the Community Engagement & Mobilization program
The Community Engagement & Mobilization Program mobilizes community members to become civically engaged on issues of:
- Economic justice
- Immigrant justice
- Gender-based violence and
- Women’s health
Building upon Mujeres’ legacy of grassroots organizing, community members can participate via the New Americans Initiative, Community-Health-Worker Model, or Latina Leadership. Under Community Engagement & Mobilization, lideres and promotoras de salud have championed significant advocacy and policy wins for immigrant survivors of gender-based violence.
Community Education
Where is the service offered?
Offered both virtually and in-person at all of our offices and off-site.
Who is eligible?
Open to the community at large, including community members, professionals, groups and other social service organizations.
When is the service offered?
The services are continuously offered throughout the year.
Community Health Worker Development
Where is the service offered?
Pilsen Headquarters (2124 W. 21st Place) and North Riverside office (7222 W. Cermak Road. 509 North Riverside, IL 60546)
Who is eligible?
Community members who are interested must complete community health worker training. Latina Leadership graduates may apply to become promotoras after completing Latina Leadership program.

The services are continuously offered throughout the year.

Referrals
Community Engagement & Mobilization offers both internal and external referrals for community resources. Mujeres promotoras de salud are trained to connect community members to the appropriate, requested resource:
- New Americans Initiative,
- CharityCare,
- Carelink, and
- Reproductive and contraceptive health resources

Available at all Mujeres offices both in person and virtually.

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday on an ongoing basis, as needed.
