Associate Director of Events & Communications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communications & Branding: Develop and implement strategies that align with mission, advocacy, and fundraising goals; ensure consistent, culturally relevant messaging; media liaison; produce compelling storytelling content, and oversees branding accuracy in programs marketing materials.
  • Events Leadership: Plan and execute advocacy, programmatic, and fundraising events, including Mujeres’ signature events Voces Unidas and Baile de las Calaveras, with a combined annual revenue benchmark of $250,000–$300,000. Manage consultants and vendors to ensure high-quality execution.
  • Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Partner with the Senior Director of Development to craft donor communications, campaigns, and event promotions that deepen supporter engagement and contribute to Mujeres’ $6.5M+ annual fundraising goal.
  • Team & Collaboration: Supervise interns and volunteers, manage external consultants, and collaborate with leadership and program staff to create a marketing strategy and integrate communications and events across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale events and communications
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and public speaking skills with experience securing media
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, think strategically, and work
  • Commitment to advancing equity, empowerment, and leadership for Latinas and communities of color.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years’ experience in communications, public relations, and/or event management.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in office presence.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Travel to other Mujeres office locations.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Summer Hours: Early dismissal (1:00 p.m.) on alternating Fridays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
  • Paid Holidays: 14 paid holidays including Juneteenth, Indigenous Peoples Day, and Winter holidays.
