Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership & Cross-Functional Strategy

  • Executive Advising: Serve as a senior leader and strategic advisor to the President & CEO in guiding organizational priorities, operational effectiveness, and long-term institutional growth.
  • Financial Planning & Operations: Collaborate closely with the Interim COO, finance consultant, and Controller on budgeting, financial forecasting, and organizational planning to ensure fiscal accountability and effective resource management.
  • Staff Leadership & Capacity Building: Supervise, mentor, and build accountability within the development team (including the Grants Manager, Events Manager, Marketing and Communications Manager).
  • Internal Coordination: Bridge communication gaps between program staff and the development ecosystem to translate programmatic priorities into compelling institutional narratives.

 
Revenue Strategy & Portfolio Execution

  • Comprehensive Fundraising: Design, implement, and lead a comprehensive annual and long-term revenue strategy across individual, major gifts, institutional, corporate, and earned revenue streams.
  • Donor & Funder Cultivation: Partner directly with the Executive Leadership and Board members to identify, cultivate, and steward major donors, foundations, government entities, and strategic corporate partners.
  • Volunteer & Board Engagement: Drive strategic engagement with volunteer councils, advisory groups, and organizational leadership bodies to maximize community fundraising and advocacy efforts.

 
Institutional Giving, Compliance, & Infrastructure

  • Full Grants Lifecycle Oversight: Provide rigorous leadership over the complete grant portfolio, ensuring optimal prospect strategy, high-quality proposal development, tracking compliance, and strict adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Data Systems & Evaluation: Oversee development systems, reporting infrastructure, and database management to track fundraising outcomes, measure strategic impact, and present analytical updates or dashboards to the Board.

 
Events & Culturally Responsive Communications

  • Strategic Event Oversight: Provide leadership for fundraising events, ensuring revenue growth matches survivor-centered, mission-aligned storytelling.
  • Marketing & Messaging: Guide development-related communications—including impact reports, newsletters, and donor materials—ensuring consistent, culturally responsive messaging that reflects the organization’s community values.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive development and philanthropic experience, with a proven track record of securing multi-year government, corporate, and private funding. Experience managing complex teams or multi-departmental projects is required.
  • Education: Master’s degree is highly preferred to align with the financial planning, systems evaluation, and operational scale of the role.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong strategic planning abilities, excellent writing capacity, and a natural collaborative approach across organizational departments.
  • Mission Alignment & Competency: A deep commitment to racial/gender equity and the mission of Mujeres Latinas en Acción. Direct experience working with Latino/a/e, immigrant, or social justice spaces is highly desirable.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in both Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

Education & Certifications:

  • Preferred: Master’s degree.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in office presence.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Travel to other Mujeres office locations.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Summer Hours: Early dismissal (1:00 p.m.) on alternating Fridays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
  • Paid Holidays: 14 paid holidays including Juneteenth, Indigenous Peoples Day, and Winter holidays.
